DOE’s Advanced Weatherization Program just announced recently that they are releasing $120 million for purposes of weatherizing as many homes across America as possible and it appears they are well on their way with the number of homes already completed thus far. We are at a point in our housing stock and from personally seeing the condition that many of the homes are in this would be the greatest and most practical way of lowering our utility costs as a whole.
Additionally the program has a second purpose to create new job opportunities by training / retraining some of the labor force to be able to effectively handle such projects. It is critical that contractors new and seasoned learn the art of installing appropriate energy saving features correctly as weatherization depends entirely on how well it was implemented.
