HotPads.com is a local start-up providing you with a National map-based search engine for finding your next home to purchase or rent. The site’s unique interface allows you to enter your criteria and see a bird’s eye view of those properties matching your needs, so you can explore via location. Additionally, click on the “buy vs. rent” tab and the site automatically uses color to distinguish, so you can explore what your budget will allow!

This site is unlike many other popular real estate search sites in that it partners with multiple data sources to stream all kinds of listings, whether they be independently listed, listed with a broker, or perhaps FSBO (for sale by owner). But, shopper beware – the site is extremely comprehensive however estimates it’s missing about 1 million listings in the local DC market. This is why it’s good to have your REALTOR send you listings through the official MLS (multiple listing service) in your market, so you’re sure to cover your bases.

The site is also unique in that it offers recources for vacationers and hotel seekers. And need I reiterate it can be used in all major cities across the US?!
