Testimonials

Thank you Michael for finding our perfect home. Over the period of 3-4 months we have been looking for properties in DC. As most of first home buyers packet with a long wish list and a tight budget. We ended up finding a house that was renovated. I think Michael is still listed under speed dial #1.

My experience with Realtors is not a lot, I guess only from countless hours of watching HGTV. Anybody can show you a house and tell you if there are 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths present in a home, but what you will find in Michael is: “Understanding the condition and the bones of thehouse” and for us this was key in “Our Realtor”. I worked with Mr. Kiefer a little over a year ago to buy a house in DC. This was a bank ownedhouse so the process was quite difficult. The house had been under contract twice previously, so this attests to the level of difficulty in this transaction.

Michael worked deftly with the bank and was instrumental in making the deal go through. He was even able to get the bank to make repairs on the property before closing.

As a first time buyer, I was at the top of my limit on what I could spend and the house needed some work. Michael was very sensitive to this and even relinquished some of his bonus to me to assist with the repairs.

Overall, as a first time buyer and as a buyer of a bank owned property, Michael has very helpful in making the transaction the least stressful as possible. He has even consulted with me since closing to provide advice on renovations. Tom G.

If you are looking for someone who cares about his customers, who know the business and who is very innovative in helping you find the right place, Michael is the right agent for you.

I have been looking to buy a house/condo in Washington D.C. for two years when I met Michael for the first time. I had been going out with four different agents before Michael.

Compared with the other realtors I worked with, Michael had a completely different approach. He had an initial meeting with me describing to me Dos and Dont’s of purchasing the house and the bumps that I might face on the road.

He asked me about what I expected from my house including the price range, location, condition, etc. Like other agents he compiled a list of possible options but instead of sharing that list with me, what all the other agents I worked with do, he personally visited all of the properties he had selected and only sent me a list containing the ones that he thought are a better match for me. This saved me a lot of time and kept me from being overwhelmed and confused with a long list of houses that I have no idea about.

We went out twice and looked at several properties, one day we looked for condos and the other day for houses. I was never comfortable buying a condo, because I was thinking I don’t get as much as I pay for. So, I was more inclined toward a buying a house.

I had visited more than 20 houses with my other agents and none of them were even close to what I wanted. With Michael, the first house that he showed me was exactly the one I dreamed about. The moment I entered the house, I knew this is it. In less than 48 hours I placed my bid and Michael helped me through all the paperwork.
The other thing that I really liked about him is his business title. He is really green when it comes to paperwork. Everything is electronic. I didn’t have to print or scan a single page. He took all the signatures electronically. It was fast and secure. I was able to finish all the paperworks and underwriting in less than a month (apparently a record in D.C.) Alireza J.

I’ve worked with Michal Keifer of Green DC realty both on the buy and sell side – he’s great. Initially, when buying my property, which was hotly contested, he led a fair and balanced bidding process, and was quick, professional and efficient. A year later, when time came to sell the property he was a huge help – selling the place quickly, professionally, and with a clear and effective strategy for closing. I was definitely a pain of a client to work with due to various complications, and Michael handled the preparation and sale in the most helpful manner possible. Chris T.

I had been looking for a place for about 6 months on my own. Michael runs tours of different areas in D.C. and I went to several of these events towards the end of my search so that’s when and where I met him. Michael was incredibly helpful. We had always had Cleveland Park pinned down but we looked at other areas as well that were similar.

Michael has a HUGE interest in the environment and “green buildings” in particular. I’ve always been a bit of an environmentalist myself so this was something I was intrigued by. Despite having a pretty good knowledge of most things “green”, Michael was able to educate me even farther. He is an incredibly informed Realtor and environmentalist and made the search for my home very easy as he was able to pinpoint a whole host of options I was missing in my own searches.

Michael is always quick to answer calls and provide information. I can’t stress how important this is. Case in point; I found “the” place from Michael. It had been listed a day earlier but there was nothing out there other than the MLS. We jumped on it immediately and put in a very competitive offer. Another offer went in that weekend and the seller decided simply to go with the other person and not even allow us to counter (bad form from the other agent). Well, everything seemed as if it was done for but Michael scrambled and we put in a completely new offer that we felt would cause them to back out of their counter to the other party. Well, it did and in doing so saved the sale. Even despite all the oddities in this particular property, Michael helped me maneuver like a pro and his undying support and quick reactions were far and above the call of duty. I’ve bought property before and own several houses and Michael has been the most professional person I’ve worked with.

I’d like to add to that though. Michael is an incredibly nice person. I come from the south where folks are “friendly” and still say “hi” to each other on the street. Michael seems to have these same charms despite the cold and hardened Washington environment. Even after the sale, Michael and I have remained quite good friends. I really can’t say enough about this guy.

I’m not sure about this other review but it seems they’re out for a “smear campaign” on him…which is a shame. I consider Michael a jewel of this city. He fights for his clients, goes out of his way to help and does the city and the community a huge service in his real estate and green education both through his tours and in his lectures throughout the city.

He’s been featured on the news for his cutting edge approach and is so much more than just a “Realtor”. I would go out of my way to have him as my Realtor again on my next property.
John G.
